Transport

In sophisticated containers, at the back of mules and horses, in pick-ups, trucks and even the back of the harvesters; coffee has a myriad of forms to be transported from the plantations to a Coffeeshop company store. All those vehicles serve to move coffee from the plantations into that cup you where holding not too long ago.

The mass of beans are put into baskets and plastics sacs and then taken using tractors, mules, pick-ups, truck or even people, for short distances, into the processing facilities; then into kenaf sacs that are put in warehouses where it waits to be reprocessed and then back into the bags stacked inside steel containers. The containers are moved by truck or train into ships, sometimes airplanes, and then freighted to the destination where the inverse process is taken… train, truck, cart and finally the hand of the lovely waitress that hands over your coffee.
